Plant labeling tips... Plant labeling is always a problem. Plastic dries and breaks. Wood rots. Aluminum is very expensive. A wholesale grower friend of ours revealed a rather innovative plan that he uses for his stock plants.
These are the old plants he keeps for seed production and his reputation rides on being dead accurate with data for his seedlings. He makes a duplicate plastic label and buries it in the bottom of the pot. The potting mix keeps it from deteriorating and when his visible label breaks (as they always do) he merely has to tap the plant out of the pot and rewrite a new label off his buried treasure. Duplicate work but it saves his data.
