Be aware of plant orientation to the sun. We have to get our plants used to the sun gradually so we don't burn them. Be sure to keep them facing the same direction for the summer months.

Some tips to prevent sunburning your plants:

• Keep your plants evenly watered.
• Watch when trimming trees and bushes. Refrain from pruning plants that are shading your cacti.
• If rooting cuttings in the sun, it is wise to keep a close eye on them. If they start to lighten up on the west or south you may have to cover the cutting with shade cloth until temperatures drop in the fall.

If you wish to change the orientation or location of your cacti, do it while the weather is still cool.  Moving plants in cool weather will allow them to acclimate slowly and build resistance to the hot summer sun.
